RIFLE EASTERN MASS LEAGUE MATCHES: 2010 EMRL 200 yard high power matches concluded on May 8. Old Colony sent three teams. Old Colony Team One placed third overall, Team Two placed fifth and Team Three ended up in 13th place. There were 17 teams total in the competition this year. Weather played a big role in the scores for the last weekend, due to lightning storms. Pres Campbell won a few awards this year. Most notably the high aggregate and the highest X count, with a total 580 and 16X’s. Attendance was great for the Old Colony Teams, lots of hard work and great scores. Thanks to all shooters who came and made it such a good success. Special Thanks to Loring and June Hall for hosting the after match get together.

GOAL NOTES: 6/7/2010, submitted by Derryl L. Cobbett, GOAL Rep.
H2259 Gets another extension H. 2259 has now been extended to 6/30/10 for discussion. Please continue to contact the committee members and your legislators and urge them to vote favorably on this bill.
Please call the members of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary and ask them to OPPOSE the Governor's Bill, H.4102!
As you know, the Governor has been pushing his anti-civil rights bill, "An Act to Reduce Firearm Violence" in every media outlet possible this past week, and blaming the "gun lobby" for the bill not moving forward. GOAL has just learned that the Joint Committee on the Judiciary is polling their members in order to try to release this bill favorably to the House of Representatives. Although GOAL has been trying to get the Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security to release our pro-civil rights bill, H.2259 for months, the Governor seems to have twisted the arms of the Judiciary Committee to take action on his bill.
Please contact the Committee members and urge them to reject any further "gun control" bills and OPPOSE H.4102.
If passed, H.4102 will create the following changes:
•Allow licensed firearms dealers to access the names and addresses of firearms owners, which as of right now is NOT public information. (This language is part of the "one gun a month law" and would involve licensed firearms dealers in the prosecution of lawful citizens.)
•Allow the State Police to destroy confiscated guns.
•Limit lawful gun owners to purchase one gun a month.
•Do away face to face sales/transfers-which means all sales/transfers would need to go through a licensed dealer.
•Create dangerousness hearings, holding citizens in jail without bail for simple unlicensed possession of a firearm. (This is the same language that the House just rejected last week in the CORI bill H.4703, because it would have been in violation of a Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruling.)
• Please support GOAL and consider attending the Summer Banquet, Saturday June 19th at the Boxborough Holiday Inn. It promises to be a great even. In addition to N.E. Patriot Matt Light, Alan Gottllieb, 2nd Amendment Foundation, Rep. Jeff Perry, the Congressional Candidate for district 10, will be a guest speaker.
Tickets may be purchase online at GOAL.org, follow the links from the Goal Store & by calling Angi Fisher at the GOAL office 508 393-5333 x 206.
