TREASURER’S REPORT: Hal Kane reported on the financials. Report was accepted by the Membership.
SECRETARY REPORT: Jim Campbell summarized the previous month’s report. The report was accepted by the Membership.
HOUSE COMMITTEE: Dick Curtis discussed the damage the club received from lightning strikes in late May. A large tree was struck outside of the Caretaker’s quarters. The roof and concrete deck of the range were also struck. Some electrical systems were shorted. The club’s insurance broker has been contacted. The tree has been removed and electrical repairs are underway. By the time of the publication of this report, a meeting occurred on the matter of the handicap access. Various options are being examined including potential conversions and required finances. Dick further discussed the drain in the driveway and the drain in the back of the building. Rick Stenn mentioned that he was in the downstairs range during the heavy rained and noted that the water was coming in through the cinder block wall of the bulkhead. It was thought if the wall was repaired a drain may not be necessary in the back.
RANGE COMMITTEE: Steve McDonald said that nothing was scheduled at this time, but asked that people contact him with suggestions.
PISTOL: Rick Stenn reported that Old Colony won the shoot off in Holbrook and took 1st Place in B Division. Through the summer, home matches will be held on Thursday nights. It’s a good time for members to tryout Gallery Pistol. There are a couple of team guns available and members will be happy to let you try out their pistols. The Pistol team meets on Thursday nights usually around 7pm.
MEMBERSHIP: Initially, there were no new members applicants, but 2 applicants, after the start of the meeting. Herb Pitts presented 2 new applicants for membership. Candidate’s names and club interests were read and they were voted into membership.
EASTERN MA RIFLE MATCHES: Thee 220 yard high power matches concluded on May 9. Old Colony sent up three teams this year and the result are pretty good. Old Colony Team One placed Second overall, Team 2 placed sixth and Team 3 finished in 14 th place. It also appears that Old Colony’s, Pres Campbell, won the Col. Stewart Award again, scoring the highest one day score for the last match. He shot a 198 with 3Xs. Congrats to Pres for helping keep Old Colony’s high power team a force to reckoned with. Attendance was great this year for the Old Colony teams; lots of hard work and great scores. Thanks to all the shooters who came and made it such a good success. Special thanks to Loring and June Hall for hosting the after match gatherings with good times and fun for all. Steve has posted the full results on the rifle bulletin board.
